Connor update

I talked to Mani earlier this evening. She was discharged this morning, but Connor will have to stay for a couple weeks. They had already told her that after he was born, just because of the circumstances. Today she said he has developed jaundice and they have him under a light for it. Jaundice is pretty common in babies, especially preemies. So hopefully all is well, and it is a routine case that they can take care of easily. Being a preemie myself, I'm hoping everything goes well for the little guy. He can pull through this just like I did, and I am sure they are much better equipped to handle preemies than they were in my day. Besides, he's looking forward to being in an exclusive club with his favorite Aunt Lori!

Little Baby Boy

And this time, he HAS a name....

Meet Connor James!

Connor

Mani started having some problems late Tuesday night and went to the hospital ER. Long story, short, Connor was born 7 weeks early this afternoon at 2:46. He weighs 4 lb 1.2 oz and is 17 inches long. So far he seems to be fine, but they have him in the incubator to keep him warm. We went to see him after we got done at work and I was able to go in the ICU with Mani to see him. He's a little guy, but he seems to be doing well. Mani says he's a noisy one - which is good - at least we know his lungs are in great working order!

And yes, of course, I took the camera! You can see more photos HERE.

Mommy's a slacker

Daddy brought it to my attention that it has been a while since I have updated pictures of the puppies. So to catch you up with how much the little guy has grown CHECK HERE.

Benson seems to be slowly coming around. He was trying to play with Duncan a while ago, usually he sniffs him then just keeps an eye on where he is and what he is doing. I hope they start seeing eye to eye soon. It is hard keeping them separated or watching them so closely when they are in the same room together. And I hate keeping them separated so much - I mean, how will they learn to get along if they don't interact enough? I had expected it to be harder when we brought Benson home to Tyler. I never expected Benson to be the difficult one.

Benson has a week to go before his little operation. I hope it makes a difference in his issues. I'd hate to put him through that for nothing.

Buzzed by a chopper

We live close to the hospital, so it's common for the chopper to buzz the house on it's way out. Sometimes I think these guys intentionally try to just clear the roof. We seem to have a different chopper in the neighborhood tonight though. Benson and I went outside for a bit, it was really nice outside, cool and quiet - well, as quiet as you get living in the middle of the city, that was until the chopper came by. It wasn't as low as the hospital chopper, and when I looked to see where it was, it looked like it was flying in circles on the other side of us from the hospital with a spotlight beaming down. It looked like it was circling within a 1/2 mile or so from the house. We've seen a LOT of police cars in the neighborhood tonight, so, we came in. Oh how I wish we lived in the middle of nowhere... I'm still not use to so many people in one area.

I won $125,000

Well, at least that is what I am telling Dave and his dad. I signed up for Vince McMahon's Million Dollar Mania, and don't it figure, that they were talking on the phone when Vince made a call and got a BUSY SIGNAL!!!!! (Instead of ME!) So, I missed out on $125,000. I'm ticked. (Ok, so out of 1.5 million entries - what's the chances that our phone was the one they called? and that our phone was the only one busy at the time? Chances are pretty slim, but, what if it was?!?!?!) So I'm thinking of what I WOULD have done with $125,000... then I see they are interviewing the lady that won my money at her house.... my next thought is, "I really need to do some spring cleaning, this place is a mess for cameras to be here!!!!" I better get cracking for my next chance.

I'm using my cell number next week...

42 lbs.

We made another trip to the vet tonight. Duncan was due for some more puppy shots. He gained 12 pounds since the last set of shots! He is growing SOOOOO fast.

I thought I had a sandbox for them, but that seems to have fallen though. Someone had emailed me that they had one through one of the FreeCycle groups I posted on. But when I went to pick it up, it wasn't in the yard where it was suppose to be waiting for me. I'm thinking someone saw it before I got there and took it. Bummer. Oh well, we still have the new pool.

Benson sprung a leak

We picked up a new pool today, the old one bit the dust. Were looking for a sandbox. But before handing over $60 or more for a new one, we were hoping we might be able to find a used one cheap or free. Preferably a Little Tykes or Step 2. They are heavy plastic and will hopefully hold up better than the pools. So let us know if you know anyone that is trying to get rid of one.

Benson in the Pool

Benson absolutely loves the pool, Duncan still isn't sure about it, but I am sure he'll come around, he is a Lab after all.

Going back to school

This past week I was suppose to start training on some new CTP equipment we are getting at work. Well, the company failed to send us all the software we needed in time, so that fell through. I'll admit, I was a bit nervous and very interested at the same time. I haven't been to school in years, and this training would be a bit different. I was to do an online/teleconference training. That in itself was an interesting thing, not to mention that I'd be the first to get any hands on training on our new software workflow, which was also the scary part. I was worried I'd miss something important, or forget some tiny detail that made all the difference. Well, for the time being, I can let the nervous anticipation go. We have yet to reschedule, however, my little set-up is ready to go. We have two Macs sitting side-by-side, one for watching the online training, and one for my hands-on work, with a teleconference speakerphone at the side for my listening pleasure (I hope I can hear everything well enough - I generally hate speakerphone. Wish me well for when the time comes!
