1st place

Dave's dad bought a 1988 Firebird this past fall. He has been shining it up and has taken it to a few shows. Today he took it to the Mountain Days show and won 1st place in his class. I think he is pretty tickled.

So far he has taken it to 4 shows, and placed in the top 3, three times, so he is doing pretty well and is having fun.

And then there was food

Our peppers and cucumbers are starting to ripen. And one lonely little cherry tomato. I picked 3 or 4 cucumbers last week and another 4 today. They have to be twice as long as normal cucumbers. And then there is the little yellow one.

It is a Lemon Cucumber. It's odd, but it really just tastes like a cucumber, nothing else. Looks like it would taste more like a zucchini or something.

It looks like there will be a handful of these ready later in the week.

Day 1

Countdown to destruction?

Duncan got a new name tag today, he destroyed the one we had gotten him before. I came home from lunch one day to find he had gnawed it so badly that you couldn't read it, so I ordered him a couple new ones.

Here's his shiny new one:

I had ordered him two new purple ones (the second in case he hasn't passed his chewing phase), and after emailing the nice lady that sells them, she asked if Duncan would be her tester for the stainless steel ones. She's curious just how much better they will hold up, so we're giving it a shot.

It appears that he has finally lost all of his puppy teeth - I sure hope so, those things are SHARP, and his favorite thing to chew and scratch on seems to be me. We're still trying to come to an understanding that mommy is not a chew toy, he seems to have other thoughts on the subject.

Just like a Timex

I got a call from the cardiologists office yesterday. They said the stress echo came back perfectly normal. So, I'm happy. My doctor wants to do some extra cholesterol tests to check some other things, and perhaps adjust my medicine, but that sounds like it. I can deal with that.

Keeps on ticking

Well, I had a stress echocardiogram on Thursday. I guess all went well, they had me trotting along on a treadmill and I didn't kill over, so I passed that part. They told me that the treadmill/Electrocardiogram part was good on both the resting and exercise/stress parts, but I have to wait to see the cardiologist about the official results of the ultrasound part. I'm hoping that part went well too, I couldn't tell you one way or the other. The resting one I could see my heart, and even see the valves flapping away, the exercise part just looked like a pulsing blob to me LOL, so I hope that was normal - we shall see. This is all just part of my 'preventative maintenance plan' as worked out by me, my cardiologist and my brother and sister who decided to have heart issues. Thanks guys. I was plenty happy with JUST having high cholesterol. BUT, if I can at least prevent anything else from happening, I will happily take a test of some sort on occasion. I'll keep ya posted on the rest of the results.

New puppy pictures

It's been a while since I added any new puppy pictures. Take a look at Benson with his new FASHION STATEMENT.

Muzzle

He's still doing the muzzle thing to play with his brother, we're hoping that's just temporary and only necessary a little longer. I'll keep ya updated.

Duncan and I went to visit Daddy at work on Saturday. We put him on the freight scale to weigh him, he is now 52 pounds. If you check the pictures, you can finally see how big he is compared to Benson. (Finally! A picture of the two of them together!!) I'd suggest Benson make friends quickly, or he's going to be getting his butt kicked by his little brother very soon. We had them both at the vet for shots 2 months ago, at that time Benson weighed 90 pounds, so Duncan is well on his way to being the bigger of the two. Benson, a little advice... go play nice...

After visiting with Daddy, we stopped by to visit with Amy, Mazey and Eli (friends of ours from work - from HAVE DOG, WILL BLOG fame, which I contribute to occasionally - which reminds me, it's been a while! Duncan was soooooo good! He was very nice to Mazey and he only barked at Eli a couple little times, which surprised me since he's never really been around a cat at all, other than to see the neighbor's cat from afar. Everyone had a good time, well, perhaps not Eli, but we'll have to visit again, maybe one day he and Eli will become friends.
