Keeping up with the Laws...

Seriously?

I haven't added anything since July 24th? Really? I knew I was behind, but wow does time fly!

Let's see... apparently we haven't really done all that much exciting, or at least worth noting, but let's see if I can recall what we have been up to... I'll take a look at the photos I have been taking and see if that jogs my memory.

The puppies have been about the same, but they are getting along a lot better these days. They were tearing through the house this morning. Sounds like a stampede when they get to chasing each other around. Benson still destroys stuff, so we are still careful what we give them to play with. A co-worker went on vacation in July and brought them back a toy (see picture), he destroyed in in 10 minutes, and it only took him that long because I was watching him the first 8, and he destroyed it in the last two when I took my eyes off him. Little butthead.

The Luna (Glowie) ball I got them held up so well, that I got them a second one. These two balls have become a favorite to both of them. They LOVE it!

We had a lot of butterflies on the bush this year, and we even had the Clearwing moth back again.

We went to a number of baseball games this year, the local team made it to the playoffs and we even headed to one away game in Harrisburg. It was a nice day trip, and not all that far of a drive. They won that particular game, which put them in the championship series, and they won this year!! WooHoo!

We also made it to a few car shows, but not a lot of them. We had Dave's car out a few times, but the bug is still sitting in the garage up his dad's.

I entered a few pictures in one of the fairs this year. I won a 1st place and a 4th place. This is the photo I won 1st on:

Last month we drove up to Elk County to see the elk herd. We saw the most elk that we have seen on one of our trips. I was a bit disappointed that the trees weren't as impressive as I hoped they would have been for the drive up, but the elk made up for it, we got TONS of pictures. And speaking of trees... we never really had a 'peak' for fall foliage down here if you ask me. A couple trees here and there, but nothing really spectacular. Seemed like everything went from green to on the ground, with not a lot of in between. I guess I must have been inside working on the pretty day. LOL

The garden did ok I guess, though by the time things really started ripening, we noticed they were also disappearing. I think we had a lot of people helping themselves when we weren't home. Dave's dad planted Chinese Cauliflower, and brought one down for us. I made this cauliflower and tomato casserole that I found a recipe for. It was great! The cucumbers started out great, then died. Not sure what that was all about, but I picked a few once, then nothing. Dead plants. Perhaps the thieves killed them. Yesterday and today, Dave spent part of the day canning peppers. Now if smells all vinegary in here. LOL. The tops keep popping on the jars and remind me of pap and gram canning tomatoes.

I haven't really done anything new in the way of ice cream. Made the same flavors a couple times, but nothing new yet. I still have to make Crabby's pistachio :-), and get the last of the mint that is coming up to try the fresh mint ice cream.

Dad's surgery went well. He doesn't have the pain in his back like he did. He still doesn't seem to have a great deal of flexibility in his foot, but the doctor said it could take up to a year to see the end result of the surgery. But even the easing of the pain is great for him. He had a rough patch there in the beginning, but as long as he doesn't overdo it, he's feeling pretty good.

Yesterday we ventured to the resort that we go to for our anniversary dinner. They were having an Autumnfest event. It was a nice day for driving and walking around. We weren't really there all that long, so on the way out, we decided to take another trip to the Flight 93 site. I wasn't impressed with their "temporary" memorial. We were there back in September 2002, and saw the wall that everyone was leaving things on. It just seemed so personal and was such an emotionally charged place. The new 'temporary' memorial seems cold, and 'industrial' for lack of a better word. Hopefully once the permanent memorial is done, they'll put the monuments and memorials people left back in and it will get that personal feel back to it.

Tomorrow I have the day off, and am finally getting around to using the gift certificate that dad got me for Christmas to get a massage. Then mom was planning on coming out for lunch. So hopefully it will be a mostly relaxing day.

I guess that catches me up. I'll try to do better....
