Benson taking a break. He's in a mood tonight, stealing everything off the table, tearing up the papertowels and bags. Just generally being a pain in the rear. And definitely not wanting to cooperate with this whole 'crazy lady trying to take my picture' thing.

Our Duncan Punkin Pie!!! He was being very cooperative about getting his picture taken this day. Normally he wants to come eat/lick/slobber on the camera when he sees it.

Nice day today, but kind of hazy in the distance. I ran up to Best Buy to grab a hard drive that was on sale. Took this from the parking lot. It was a nicer day than this looks though. The sky above was nice and blue. But this town is down in a hole in the hills and they were both covered in haze and clouds. Off to the left you should be able to see the start of the string of windmills that are going up, but it was hazy enough that they weren't very visible. I'm sure I'll get some shots of them. They should be able to power all of PA just from here before long.

We weren't the only ones with too much snow on this morning. The day before, the morning and afternoon were nice, and we didn't have ANY snow. Some time later in the afternoon it started snowing. The trip home was horrible. My regular 10-15 minute drive took me 45 minutes. I'm glad I didn't have a longer drive home.

Benson the snow puppy! I was hoping to get him doing his happy dance, but he always quits when he sees me. So he just laid here eating the snow. Goof.

Our company held it's annual Hunting & Fishing Show last weekend. I worked in our booth with a co-worker for the morning and afternoon. Afterwards we went downstairs to see the bloodhounds before we left. Didn't get to pet them though, they were having a demonstration at the time.

Flags flying in the wind at the VA. It was a beautiful day in the 60's, and really windy! I took this at lunch time. Decided it was so nice, I'd go out. Which isn't always good, then I don't want to go back. Sometimes I think it is good that I work in a room with no windows. Then again, most of the places I have worked have had no windows. No wonder I am so pale.

This is close to home, I drive past here every day on the way to and from work, and most everywhere else we venture out to. They're building a Walgreens here, or so we hear. Let's see how it progresses...

Happy Brithday Duncan!!! Duncan turned 3 on the 14th. And we celebrated with ice cream cake. YAY! I think for Benson's birthday I'll be trying my hand at making ice cream cake. $20 for that little thing. Really???? I can make ice cream. And have a spring form pan. I think I'm set!

We came home after our anniversary trip, and Benson started scratching that night. This was taken the next day. By then he had a big, bald, raw spot scratched open on his neck. I'm not sure how he was laying like this without it hurting. I figured we'd have to run him to the vet, but somehow it seemed to start healing up as quick as it came. Usually it takes a while. We kept his collar off to keep from irritating it. And his fur is growing back. We have a pretty new blue collar for him too.

We went to Seven Springs on the 11th for our annual Anniversary Dinner and pigged out. They still had some of our favorite dessert by the time we made it to the dessert table. They don't always have any left. Last year, they told us this was called "Strawberry Praline". Now I have to figure out how to make those wafer thingies. I found a recipe for something that looks similar. So I am going to tweek it a bit and see what happens.

I think he was using some kind of puppy mind control trying to hypnotize me... "On the count of 3, you will give me a pupcake... one... two.... three!"

The puppies keep getting pupcakes, and daddy keeps reminding me he needs daddy cakes. LOL... so I made some banana-nut muffins. They were good! I really need to bake more.

After taking Benson's picture and playing with it, I took Duncan's the next day and made it match. I have since added their names and some other design elements and had them enlarged to 16x20 prints and framed them. I am going to hang them in the living room. I'm just debating at this point how I want to display them. I am thinking of finding, designing and printing 4 smaller photos of Riley, Tyler, Patricia and Alex to go along with them. I think it would make a great wall display of all our furry kids.

Benson made #5, and #6 is part of a set.

Getting caught up

You thought I forgot about my pictures already didn't you? Well, I didn't. I am getting ready to update them now. Just wanted to catch up a little on Pap first....

Pap spent about a week at the rehab place, then they sent him home. He looked great and seemed to be feeling so much better! While he was in the hospital and rehab, the cousin that owns the place where he is living has sold their house. So now pap has to move. It's kind of a good thing though, the place he is staying it a second floor apartment, and the stairs he has to climb to get there aren't in the best shape and it takes a lot out of him to get up them. The bad thing is, now we have to find a suitable place that he will like. We had hoped a place across the street from mom's had an opening, but that isn't working out. Anyhow.... we're working on that. Meanwhile, mom called last night to say that pap is in the hospital again. Sheesh. I hope he starts feeling better soon, and staying that way. :-(

I saw this shirt on a website a while back, and I liked it. It reminds me of Krabby, and it's a good thing to spread the word about organ donation. After receiving it, it looked really short. I figured once I washed it, it would never fit. Well, it shrunk. I still wear it, but usually under another shirt, or just around the house. So in case you never get a chance to see it.... Be an organ donor. Give the gift of life.

Another nice trip home at lunch time, beautiful blue sky! And annoyingly high gas prices. We won't be going much of anywhere requiring long distances very often. Unless someone has an electric/alternative fuel vehicle they are willing to send us for testing???

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Freezing rain, ice, cold, yuck. Yuck. Yuck. But, boy, was it pretty! The ice was sticking to the hedges this morning when I was leaving for work, so I grabbed the Coolpix L15 out of my purse. I passed some trees on the way in that were covered as well. I wish I'd have been able to get even more photos today. The trees were like crystal.

This afternoon was nice though, the sun was shining and the sky was even blue!! I ran home at lunch time to check on the puppies and was surprised at the difference in the day since I had left this morning. By the time I left work to come home at the end of the day, it was windy and FREEZING! And from what I hear, there was thunder and lightning 'up the mountain' today. Yikes.

Punxsutawney Phil called for an early spring this morning. I think it arrived around lunch time, and has since passed. Welcome back winter!

01/365 - February 1, 2011

This is the beginning of what will, hopefully, become a picture a day for a year. The pictures won't be of anything in particular, and will probably be a wide variety of things, taken with a wide variety of cameras, including my cell phone. Which is not an iPhone with a 5mp camera. Then again, depending on what kind of deal Verizon has tomorrow, it may be! LOL

Ok, so... here we go... picture 1!

01/365

Oh come on, you didn't expect to get through 365 days and not have pictures of the boys, right? Well, why not start off with the boys! Duncan has been sick since Friday, and is starting to feel more like himself, and Benson is now sick. Poor puppies. So they had to be first. I had hoped they would look at me, but, they were at least this close to each other, so I can't complain. I am sure this is the first of many of one or the other or both of them... so, you've been warned! LOL

Slacker Slacker Slacker....

That's me.

Let's see what we've been up to since November!!!!

Merry Christmas!!

Happy New Year!!

Happy Groundhog Day!

(Has it really been since November since I last added something?) I'm a slacker.

December 2nd we went downtown for the annual Christmas parade. It was a nice night, cold, but an enjoyable evening.

We had a birthday party for pap on December 4th. I was glad I was able to get him out for a while, he rarely leaves his apartment. I called him ahead of time and told him we were picking him up and taking him to Mom's for dinner and cake for his birthday. He was surprisingly agreeable, but then, how would you turn someone down when they are taking you for dinner for your own birthday. He doesn't leave his place often, and after we took him home, he was huffing and puffing at the top of the stairs, I kind of see why he never leaves! I'm gonna cheat and just give you a link to the picture of his cake... http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31246564&l=282e59494f&id=1083340733

My brother-and-sister-in-law made it home for Thanksgiving, but not Christmas, and mom had work, so Me, Dave and his dad had a nice Christmas eve together, with Sammy of course. We did our Christmas Eve shrimp dinner - always yummy! Christmas day, the three of us headed up to mom's and stopped to see pap for a little while afterward. We had a nice Christmas. New year's eve mom made it down. We went out for dinner then stopped by Lakemont park for Lights on the Lake, then headed back to Dad's to watch the ball drop.

The middle of January we headed back out to see the surgeon that did dad's back surgery in July. He looked over the new MRI to see how things were healing, and dad talked with him a bit on further options to help him out. The surgeon feels anything more, would be more risky than helpful, so he won't be undergoing any more surgery.

We made it out to see WWE wrestling at the BJC a couple weeks ago. Fun as usual, but I got in trouble for taking pictures. Apparently my D40x looked a little too professional for photos that day, and I was asked to stop taking pictures. I'm looking into a camera that I should be able to get in the door, but will still take really nice pictures. I think I have it picked out. Just waiting on a deal, and some expendable cash. LOL

Pap ended up in the hospital for a couple days, and has since been moved to a rehab facility where he has been for the past week. They wanted to keep an eye on him for a week or two. He had a low blood count, and was pretty weak. He is looking a lot better!! He says he is sore though, apparently they are giving him a workout with the therapy. It's doing him a world of good though.

I haven't been doing much ice cream lately. Not sure why really. The other day I tried a different version of Chocolate mocha using chocolate milk instead of regular white. It gave it a little bit of a different taste. I still have to get that on the Brain Freeze blog.

And that brings us to this week. Duncan's been sick. We had them both to the vet last week for a routine checkup and shots, and a few days later Duncan got sick. Another trip to the vet, and some medicine and he is feeling almost back to himself. Now, Benson is sick. UGH! I hope they both feel better soon. Poor puppies.

And, knowing how well I have been keeping up with this blog, I am not sure I should do this, but I am going to try a "Project 365". This particular one is a photo a day for a year. In addition to taking a photo a day, I am planning on saying something here about each photo. Here goes nothing! They may not get posted every day, but I'll try.
